The joys of being broke

A few years back, I spent ~$500 on a cheap set of furniture at the Mart.   It was a three piece set, sofa, loveseat and a chair-and-a-half.  I was disappointed that it wasn’t exactly the color I saw at the store, but I found out because it was so cheap, they just sold whatever they had.   Stupid me.

But it was my first piece of furniture that I could entertain with, so I was happy.

Unfortunately, sometime before we moved, the sofa broke.  I tried rigging it with zip ties without any real idea what was wrong.   Today, I took it apart.    I found that the brace that supports the spring/coil things had actually ripped off of where it was nailed in and that’s what caused the springs to come off of their anchors.  So I’ve spent the better part of my afternoon hammering away at it, re-securing the other braces, removing the nails from the main brace and trying to figure out how the hell I’m going to get it back together.

This all goes back to me being cheap.  😛   One of these days, I’ll drop a grand or two on a realy nice corner unit that we really want.  But not today.
